Strategic Plan

On Tuesday, July 19th, 2011, the Puyallup City Council held a Study Session in the Council Chambers at City Hall. One of the purposes of this session was to inform the Council about the extent of homelessness in the Puyallup community, and provide a comprehesive, strategic plan to address the issue.

A sub-committee from the Puyallup Homeless Coalition spent seven months creating the Strategic Plan to Resolve Homelessness in Puyallup. The sub-committee worked closely with Pierce County and local service providers to build a collaborative plan that identified and addressed gaps in resources and services through comprehensive strategies.

The plan was presented to the Council along with presentations by representatives from Pierce County and the Rescue Mission. The presentations from Pierce County and the Rescue Mission not only provided a regional look at homelessness, but also allowed them to officially support for our plan, which integrates well with their efforts to resolve homelessness.

We encourage you to go to the City of Puyallup website and watch the council study session for July 19th. There were many powerful citizen comments following the presentations which were captured in the video of the proceedings as well.

We also encourage you to read the Strategic Plan. It’s important that the public become aware and involved in helping to end homelessness in our community. If you are looking for ways to get involved, please check the “Get Involved” section of our website.
